That might explain it. Both places I have lived and used online dating the average user has been a lot less attractive than the average person. I would imagine that the average single person is less attractive than the average coupled-up person, adjusting for age. I met my girlfriend on Match, been like 8 monthes of going strong, we're starting to give moving in together a serious thought.

From what I've found with online dating, and from talking to girls about it. It's a finicky thing. But a lot of it seems to be timing as well, you gotta remember that these girls are being bombarded with emails. You need to be efficient, and do your best to stand out and separate yourself from the rest. The only thing that got girls to give me the time of day on OKC was a picture of me grinning, while standing between two scowling Libyan riflemen.

I may as well have had deleted the rest of my profile. I met my wife on Match in early I went on one other first date, then went on a second date with my wife and never looked back. We got married in and have three kids.

Sigh. I'm having no luck at the online dating thing.

Currently dating a girl I met through Tinder! Dry spells and floods. The dating and then finding no spark burns you out after a while. You might be pursuing the wrong women. My biggest problem with OkCupid was that I didn't know myself well enough to realize what I really needed in a relationship. I dated several women, but all of them were completely wrong for me. As it turned out, the perfect girl for me was under my nose the whole time. Literally under my nose because she's almost a foot shorter than I am. I met my girlfriend and love of my life through tinder. Optimism and willingness to stay open-minded can lead to amazing things.

I talked to a few girls on OKCupid end ended up dating one off and on for about eight months or so before we kind of drifted apart. No fault of the site. I had been out of the dating game for about four years, and if nothing else it was good for helping me get back into the swing of things. I met my girlfriend at a concert a few weeks after I had stopped seeing the girl from OKCupid, and I feel like that wouldn't have happened if I wasn't in OKCupid in the first place. Yup, met my current girlfriend on OKCupid, and met one other person before that who I went on a few dates with.

However, in the year or so I was on OKC, I got something like 3 or 4 unsolicited messages, and only got one reply my GF to unsolicited messages I sent. It can be a little bit disillusioning and it's really hard to write good messages. The biggest pieces of advice I'd give are: The people there were very helpful in giving me good, no bullshit advice on how to improve my profile which it did very much need at first.

Try to approach women as people. It can take a long time for anything to happen. I had been using OKC for a good six months before I had a date, and for over a year before I met the woman I am dating now. It may also be worth checking out the different sites to see who is using what in your area. I was on OKC years ago when it was new and it worked well.

I signed up for OKC again last year and had no luck. Ignore anyone who says it's just a hookup app. You can find both on there, hookups and ltr's. Also if she's really hot, she's a bot. After about 6 dates, he was her last one that was chosen for her, and she almost didn't go, but she lost his phone number, and didn't want to just leave him hanging. I met my partner of several years in okcupid. We live together now. I actually messaged him first. I had some interesting and unique questions I sent to them, made the profile informative, funny and had some flattering photos some with other girls in the photos.

For a lot of those girls I was the first person they met up with from okcupid. I didn't take it too seriously and didn't come off as desperate. Well twice but I consider only one meaningful. She actually messaged me she was pretty cute and had a fun personality, she lived in another state but our cities were about two hours away at the time I didn't have a car so we did Skype dates. We texted everyday we became close. Anyways my friend offered to take me to her city as long as he had an attractive date too. My lady friend sent me a pic of her friend and he didn't like her so he ended up not taking me.

Eventually she started liking a guy she went to school with and got in a relationship with him, I missed my window. I really didn't want to keep talking to her while this other dude was in there so I decided to end things and haven't talked to her since. I feel bad because she wanted to be friends and I liked her a lot. I met my ladyfriend of four years on OK Cupid. I had a unique profile, flattering photos, and I live in a very large city.

I was on POF and OKC for a bit, had a few dates but nothing much, seems females are pretty much on their guard the whole time on those sites due to the sheer amount of assholes and sleaze bags. Keep in mind that for every girl you message, she probably has 20 other guys messaging her at the same time. Another thing to mention is that a lot depends on where you are.

I'm in Washington DC, where there are a ton of women my age, and OKCupid is fairly popular although Tinder seems to be picking up, ughhhhhh. I'm not fit, and I manage to have fairly consistently good results with OKCupid. I wrote a mini-guide a few days ago for someone else here , if you're interested. I met my wife, and several of my best friends on OkCupid. It's a wonderful site. However, given your attitude towards 'obese' people, I think you're probably the problem. How are you doing in that department though?

Are you fit or at least taking care of yourself? Women are going to screen you harder online because all they have to go by is looks. I'm a decently attractive guy, slightly overweight, but intelligent and I like to think funny. Met my current girlfriend who just moved in with me there.

Prior to that, I could get 5 dates a week if I worked at it. I'd say the dates broke out like this:. By sending a lot of "hello! I know there are exceptions, but in my experience the vast majority of women will respond positively if. Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy. Oct 27, 1, I just had a talk with another girl, I've gone through several and all have led nowhere, either there was no connection or they just stopped talking to me without warning.

This latest girl seemed really into me, she even gave me her number and we talked on the phone, I go on eHarmony today and see that she has moved on because she's no longer even responding to me without giving me a warning, I guess I'm not too upset, she lived an hour away and she was still in school with a very erratic work schedule, but this is just getting tiring, I really want to meet someone but I guess I shouldn't have expected quick results I don't know, I guess I'm just at a loss right now Nov 26, 3, Did you ever propose meeting or were you just pen pals?

Oct 29, 1, Oct 25, 11, Try Tinder or something along those lines. Cast a wide net. Oct 27, 2, It happens all the time, but don't give up. You can seemingly click with a person and speak for days or weeks on end and suddenly become ignored. It's disappointing, sure, but don't give up.

Out of curiosity do you come on strong? I find that it's tricky finding a middle ground, especially since every individual is different, where I speak just enough to keep them interested but not too much to dish out my entire life story and discourage them from even speaking anymore. Sometimes indirectness also turns people off, so if you're insinuating something, just get to the point instead. Put your energy into self-love and self-growth, and dating will get easier over time.

It's really hard to find quality relationships when you're feeling low, in my experience.

Focus on making friends and building a foundation of support for yourself. Go on dates if you want, but don't put all of your energy into it. Oct 25, Online dating isn't for me. I do wayyyyyyy better in person, I've stepped out the pool for a bit to catch up on some work. Hopefully I can get back into it in February or March. I feel your pain though. Oct 27, 3, Eh, I hear you, but just keep trying.

As my old therapist bluntly said when I was having trouble finding someone, "If you throw enough shit against a wall, something will eventually stick. Oct 25, 2, Send dick pics 3. Profit Spoiler please don't do this. Everyone is talking to a lot of people. When I was inline I would always talk to a big group of girls and if I clicked with somelne I wouldnt go one by one telling them I moved on.

Also, if I got bored with a girl I would just move on. Theres no need to spell everything out, you get it quickly. Oct 27, If a girl ignores you, move on and don't take it personally. There are plenty of women out there and not everyone is going to be reciprocal or even respectful of your feelings. Talk to as many women as possible and eventually you'll get dates and eventually you'll meet someone that could blossom into a relationship. I know even as I write that there are plenty of people who have met, married and made a life together as a result of meeting on the world wide web. The recent speech from the former Facebook vice president provides a sobering read.

It was surprising to hear how draconian he is about the social media ban in his own home. Would a class action of the many millions now mentally perturbed and addicted to seeking out nonsensical likes be in order? If you have a dilemma, send a brief email to mariella.
